Products and service
Culture Bakery was established in 2017 as a wholesale bakery serving the hospitality industry — including restaurants, cafés, butchers, and retail outlets. From the beginning, it was our dream to open a café and retail space of our own. That dream became a reality in 2021, when we opened our doors on Tring High Street, where we serve our handmade pastries and speciality coffee.
Bread is perhaps one of our favourite things to eat, not just as a bakery but as a nation and for something that is such a tradition, we employ the traditional baking method of long fermentation. What this means is that each loaf takes two full days to prepare, made with only three pure ingredients—flour, water, and salt, and crafted with meticulous care. With a focus on the quality of our ingredients and the suppliers we select, as they reflect our commitment to integrity, craftsmanship, and shared values. This includes using companies such as Edinburgh Butter Company who adhere to traditional methods of butter making, and Redemption Roasters who employ and train prison residents, who supply us with our coffee.
At Culture Bakery our emphasis - above all else - is on quality. This commitment to quality extends beyond our products to include the ingredients we use, the service we provide, and the overall quality of life we promote.
Employment culture
Since 2024, we have partnered with a local prison to provide employment opportunities for its residents. Currently, 80% of our baking team consists of prison residents, whom we’ve trained with the essential skills needed for the art of baking. This not only offers them employment while incarcerated but also equips them with valuable skills to pursue meaningful work upon release.
We provide pay above the standard prison wage and focus on ensuring a good quality of life for all those we employ, all while supporting their reintegration into society. We pride ourselves on being able to provide a safe haven and make a positive difference in people’s lives.
In keeping with this, we source our coffee from Redemption Roasters, a company that roasts its beans inside prisons as well as employing prison leavers at their cafes. Redemption provides employment for prison residents, teaching them hands-on skills in coffee roasting, production, and logistics.
